The Republicans are in turn going to the Agricultural Show this Monday. François Xavier Bellamy and Céline Imart, farmer and now number two on the LR list in the European elections, already present yesterday, will be on site again to highlight the work carried out by their MEPs during five years in the European Parliament.

“We come to show that there are people who work.” It is with these words that the LRs explain the presence of Xavier Bellamy and Céline Imart in the aisles of the Agricultural Show this Monday in Paris. The right wishes to highlight its work carried out over five years in the European Parliament to thus stand out from the RN and Jordan Bardella who enjoys great popularity in the show. However, the head of the list in the European elections for Marine Le Pen’s party is singled out for her repeated absences in Strasbourg.

Françoix-Xavier Bellamy assumes the label of good student, and comes to highlight his record in the European Parliament, marked by head-on opposition to the “From Farm to Fork” project, a strategy of agricultural decline advocated by Brussels and voted for by Macronist MEPs. The fight led by the head of the LR list would also be, according to the party, the reason for the rallying of Céline Imart, new number two on the LR list.

A farmer in the countryside

The farmer from Tarn, a graduate of Sciences Po and Essec, is therefore in the campaign alongside her fellow farmers. She has the difficult task of embodying a third way between Renaissance and the RN: that of a right opposed to the closure of borders, but keen to fight against unfair competition. For the Republicans, capturing the anger of farmers is a major challenge. In 2022, 30% voted for Emmanuel Macron while many today seem tempted by the RN vote.
