After his visit to the Rungis market on Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron will inaugurate the 58th edition of the Paris Agricultural Show on Saturday, an annual meeting of politicians. The Head of State, who has planned to spend a lot of time there this year, is following his same logic: getting in touch with the French.

The Salon de l’Agriculture opens its doors on Saturday in Paris. Like every year, it will give rise to a parade of politicians. Emmanuel Macron will open the ball by inaugurating the show this Saturday morning. The president planned to spend a lot of time there after he cut short his visit last year, following the outbreak of war in Ukraine. After a warm-up tour on Tuesday at the Rungis market, the Head of State wants to take advantage of this trip to the “largest farm in France” to sign his return to contact with the French.

The opportunity to discuss pension reform with the French

In the entourage of Emmanuel Macron, some suggest that he could equal or even beat the record for attendance of a president at the Agricultural Show. A record he has already held since 2019. His visit to the Porte de Versailles then lasted 14 hours. A lot of time therefore in the aisles, to answer questions from the French on pension reform, wages, hardship at work, inflation or even the price of gasoline.

Subjects which have already given rise to constructive and serene exchanges at the start of the week at the Rungis market, underline those close to the Head of State. An adviser even going so far as to see it as a sign of a peaceful democracy.

Emmanuel Macron will chart the course he wants to take with farmers

But the atmosphere will not be as good-natured on Saturday at the show, predicts a faithful of Emmanuel Macron, who necessarily expects tense confrontations due to the presence of the general public. The president is also obviously going to speak more specifically to farmers. The Elysée specifies that it will draw up the “course that it wishes to carry with them by 2030”.
