After a weekend of high tension at the Agricultural Show, calm returned this Monday, February 26. The opportunity for farmers to interact with consumers. But behind the scenes, the Salon continues to be a campaign ground for the National Rally and the macronie.

A friendly atmosphere. The day after a particularly tense weekend at the Paris Agricultural Show, between demonstrations and boos against the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, calm finally returned this Monday. If the Show remains a favorable ground for the campaign of politicians, farmers take advantage of it to interact with consumers.

A return to normal welcomed by Adrien Lefèvre, dairy producer in the Ardennes: “We are more in the exchange, we are with consumers, we distribute milk… We find the atmosphere of the Show”, said he declared, before adding that “even if they are angry, farmers are perfectly aware that consumers are our greatest asset”.

A certain tension that persists

Along the aisles, visitors stop for a selfie with Oreillette, the Normandy cow and the Show’s 2024 mascot. This is the case for Jeanne, who hesitated to come after the events of Saturday, but her 8-year-old daughter insisted. “It’s above all a way of discovering life elsewhere than in Paris and also supporting our farmers, showing that even far from the fields, we think of them,” says the mother.

A friendly atmosphere even if a certain tension seems to persist among farmers after several weeks of crisis. An image, this coffin painted in blue, white and red standing in an alley with this inscription: “too many texts, too many standards, angry farmers”.
