American actress Ashley Eckstein lent her voice to the animated version of this very popular character, first introduced in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, then appeared in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.
But since then, Star Wars fans have been treated to a live action version of Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson, in season 2 of The Mandalorian. It is then found in the spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett. And it is in his own series that Rosario Dawson brings his character to life in a solo adventure today.

But how was Rosario Dawson, known for her roles in Sin City, Death Boulevard and Daredevil, chosen by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau to lend her features to the famous Jedi knight Togruta? Thanks to the fans!
Indeed, it all started in 2017 with a fan tweet (which is no longer available) asking Youtuber and graphic designer @BossLogic to create concept art of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. The actress had quoted this tweet commenting “‘Absolutely ! Yes thanks !’ and ‘#AhsokaLives'”. Subsequently, @BossLogic did several fan art of Rosario Dawson as the character. And these creations were seen by people working at Lucasfilm.
These people then sent the visuals to Dave Filoni, who was not yet working on the series centered on Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), but the idea still remained in the back of his mind.
Years later, Rosario Dawson was treated to a surreal interview with the creators of The Mandalorian, which she told AlloCiné when we caught up with her at Star Wars Celebration in London:
“I remember when I was talking to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and they offered me the role, we were on Skype. I was on the set of Briarpatch in New Mexico and the connection kept dropping. , but I could see the drawings Dave had made of me as Ahsoka plastered on the walls.
And he was like, ‘I saw a fan’s tweet on social media and you retweeted it and it stuck in my mind. And we’re thinking about season 2 of The Mandalorian coming out and I’ve always wanted to adapt this character in live-action and I think you can do it. It stuck in my head and so I drew you.”

The actress then told us that she tried to keep calm and not seem too excited, while asking to use the phone instead, since the Internet connection was faulty. Since that day, Rosario Dawson feels extremely grateful to have obtained this role and to be able to embody this emblematic character of the Star Wars universe:
“Dave had seen my work and liked what I was doing outside and he felt that I had what the character needed, and not just that I looked like her but that I was an inspiration to her too. So it was huge but it was also a big responsibility. I knew that by saying yes, even for a single episode with other possibilities afterwards, that it would not be easy. He is not an easy character to assume . So it was a lot at the same time. It was a huge challenge but for which I am very grateful.”
Star Wars fans will soon be able to witness the full extent of Ahsoka Tano’s talent in her own adventure against Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) with the help of her friends Ezra Bridger, camped by Eman Esfandi, the Mandalorian Sabine Wren, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and the Twi’lek Hera Syndulla, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
