On the occasion of Meta Connect 2023, the American company unveiled its advances in artificial intelligence. Among the new features presented, we will especially remember Meta AI, an assistant in the style of ChatGPT. According to Meta, this conversational AI will soon be available on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram.
This Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Meta took center stage with its new conference Meta Connect 2023. For the occasion, the American company lifted the veil on its future and its new innovations, particularly in the field of AI. The company, for example, presented the Meta Quest 3, its first consumer headset designed for mixed reality.
In the process, Meta also revealed EMU (for Expressive Media Universe), an AI capable of generating high-quality photorealistic images using textual guidance. Precisely, two new tools coming to Instagram, namely Restyle and Backdrop, will exploit this large image generation model.

Meta AI, Meta’s ChatGPT
But what we will remember above all is the announcement of Meta AI. To summarize, it is a conversational chatbot, just like a certain ChatGPT. According to the Menlo Park firm, Meta AI will soon be introduced on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. It builds on Llama 2 technology and the latest research on large language models conducted by Meta.
Like the creation of OpenAI, Meta AI will present itself as an assistant capable of helping you carry out different tasks on Meta’s flagship services. For example, you start a group chat to organize a hike with friends. Meta AI will be able to display various content and options directly in the chat, such as a survey to determine the start of your walk.
Where Meta AI can stand out, it’s about using Bing. Thanks to a partnership with Microsoft, Meta AI will be able to access information in real time via the Redmond firm’s search engine. “In addition to Copilot across our Microsoft products, we are a platform company that provides the tools and services needed for others to succeed in AI. That’s why we’re excited to announce today that we’ve started working with Meta to integrate Bing into Meta AI’s chat experiences,” writes Microsoft. For the moment, we do not know when Meta AI will be deployed in the group’s main applications in France.
