AI: Bytedance launches into chatbot personalization

According to the South China Morning Post, Bytedance is preparing to launch an “open platform” which should allow users to create their own chatbots.

An internal Bytedance company document plans to launch a public test version later this year as part of its “Robot Development Platform” project.

TikTok owner Bytedance is already working on its own image-to-text generator, similar to Midjourney, according to people familiar with the matter. Midjourney is an AI program that generates images from text descriptions.

The strength of recommendation algorithms

Bytedance has used various forms of AI since its inception, and its recommendation algorithms are a strength in its major services such as Douyin (the Chinese name for TikTok).

As part of this, Bytedance recently launched a new division called Flow, which focuses on AI innovation. According to Chinese media reports, the Flow division has recently recruited staff and is positioning itself as Bytedance’s AI innovation business team to incubate products.

On November 6, OpenAI presented a chatbot personalization tool during its first developers conference.
