The giant behind ChatGPT has developed a detection tool that can spot the vast majority of images generated from its Dall-E AI.

Generative AI was the latest leap forward in mainstream technology. But if the tools that have been offered to us for about a year and a half are fascinating, they also unfortunately open the door to all unimaginable disinformation businesses, blurring the line between true and false. For this reason, companies like Microsoft do not want to put on the market tools like the one that allows you to create a fake video from a single photo. And for those who have already marketed their product, now is the time to create the tools to regulate them.

Images generated by Dall-E will become apparent

OpenAI is not just ChatGPT. The tech giant, partner of Microsoft, is also the one that offers one of the best image generative AI with Dall-E. The tool is so powerful that it can sometimes produce images that are truer than life. So, to end this problem, OpenAI developed an instrument that can detect artificial images created by its AI.

According to Reuters, this instrument already displays a high degree of efficiency, since it is capable of identifying 98% of the images coming from Dall-E. And OpenAI is not expected to stop there, its teams are in the process of producing a watermark for images and even audio from AI that would be difficult to remove.

A system that is becoming widespread

This work is not the prerogative of OpenAI. All the giants that have joined the artificial intelligence race are currently looking for the best means to be able to distinguish what has been produced by AI from reality, like Meta, which has an ambitious program to mark this content on all of its social networks.

It must also be said that the year 2024 is a pivotal year at the political level, with many important elections, and especially at the end of the year, the American presidential election. Many fear that its progress will be weighed down by the accumulation of false news, which could be all the more easily disseminated if it is supported by images or videos produced by AI.
