Because a national company is carving out a place of choice among American tech giants, namely Mistral AI, the company behind the chatbot Le Chat. The development of this unicorn is being followed with interest by the highest authorities in the country, who see the company as a potential object of sovereignty in the field of AI. Suffice to say that all the lights are green for Mistral AI, as this fundraising project once again shows.
A valuation that could reach $5 billion
Mistral AI should have a lot of money in the future if management gets its way. Because according to the media The Information, the leaders of the French company recently discussed with investors to raise new funds. Fundraising which would represent a total of several hundred million dollars.
With the success of such an operation, Mistral AI would show that it is beginning to acquire a certain weight in the sector at a global level, since its valuation would then reach 5 billion dollars (approximately 4.68 billion euros). In comparison, the leader in the field, OpenAI, has a valuation of almost $80 billion.
Mistral AI already works with Microsoft
And the company can be trusted to attract money. Indeed, it already counts among its investors prestigious names such as Andresseen Horowitz, Nvidia, or, above all, simply Microsoft. A strong partner, which is already the origin of the OpenAI success story, and which concluded a “multi-year partnership” with Mistral AI last February.
