In Ain, a grandmother died while trying to rescue her grandson who had fallen while sledding, this Sunday, February 12. The 61-year-old woman fell from a rock bar 30 meters high.
She sacrificed her life to save that of her grandson. This Sunday, February 12, a grandmother took her two grandchildren, a 6 year old girl and a 3 year old boy, to make sled near the Col de la Faucille, in Ain. But while the two children were on the sledge, it is got out of control.
The little sled has indeed gained speed, and the two children lost control of it. According to information from the Dauphiné Libéré, the little girl managed to jump from the sled, but not the boy, which continued its course towards a ravine of dizzying height. Distraught, the grandmother rushed towards the child, and rushed forward to save him. But both fell 30 meters of the rock bar.
The miraculous grandson
Present on the scene, a volunteer firefighter, who witnessed the scene, gave the alert. Firefighters from the Perilous Environment Intervention Group (Grimp) and a Haute-Savoie civil security helicopter were quickly dispatched to the scene of the accident. Arrived on the spot, the emergency services tried to revive the 61-year-old woman, without success. She eventually died of cardio-respiratory arrest. As for the 3-year-old boy, he got away with it almost unscathed despite fallingsuffering only a minor wrist injury.
