Air Canada signs an interlining agreement with the Mexican company Aeromar

Air Canada, which already serves seven tourist hotspots in Mexico, will now allow travelers to travel to 11 new cities in Mexico as well as Havana, capital of Cuba, through the regional carrier, the companies said.

The partnership will push Canada’s national carrier to exceed pre-pandemic levels of flights to Mexico this summer, with plans to offer more than 100 flights to the country by winter, the airlines said.

“This agreement will advance our strategy to strengthen our major Canadian hubs with connecting traffic,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, in the release.

Last week, Air Canada announced that it would add 26 new aircraft to its fleet, as demand for travel from Canada has surged in recent months.

Travelers will now be able to buy tickets from Air Canada and Aeromar on the same route, although the companies have said they are still exploring the possibility of a code-share agreement. Aeromar flights could soon also count towards Air Canada’s frequent flyer program.
