Air France: agreement with TotalEnergies for SAF fuel

(CercleFinance.com) – TotalEnergies and Air France-KLM have signed a memorandum of understanding for the supply, by TotalEnergies, of more than one million cubic meters, or 800,000 tonnes, of sustainable aviation fuel (or SAF, Sustainable Aviation Fuel) to the companies of the Air France-KLM Group over a period of 10 years, starting in 2023.

This sustainable aviation fuel will be mainly for flights departing from France (in accordance with French legislation) and the Netherlands.

Sustainable aviation fuels provide an average reduction of at least 80% in CO2 emissions over the entire life cycle, compared to their fossil equivalent.

“This memorandum of understanding signed with TotalEnergies is a new stone in favor of the emergence of a French sector capable of meeting the needs of airlines, an essential step in the successful decarbonization of our activity”, declared Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM.
