Air France-KLM renews the mandate of its CEO Benjamin Smith for 5 years

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Air France-KLM announced on Thursday that its board of directors had decided to renew the term of the airline group’s chief executive, Benjamin Smith, early for a five-year term.

This renewal marks the end of Benjamin Smith’s term of office at the general meeting called to approve the accounts for the 2026 financial year, scheduled for May 2027, Air France-KLM said in a press release.

The carrier further announced the appointment of Marjan Rintel as Chief Executive Officer of KLM, replacing Pieter Elbers, effective July 1, 2022. “The opinion of the Works Council [comité d’entreprise, ndlr] from KLM was asked about this proposal,” said Air France-KLM.

Currently managing director of NS, the main train operator in the Netherlands which she joined in 2014, Marjan Rintel has held various operational and commercial positions within KLM and Air France-KLM, the carrier said.
