LONDON/NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Air India, owned by Indian conglomerate Tata Group, is finalizing an order for more than 200 Boeing jets as part of a historic fleet shake-up, which will also include new Airbus planes , we learned Friday from industry sources.

The order from Boeing is for 190 narrow-body 737 MAX aircraft and 30 wide-body 787 aircraft, the sources said. It is also expected to include an unspecified number of long-haul Boeing 777Xs.

According to the sources, Airbus is also in the process of reaching an agreement with Air India for at least 200 of its A320 family narrow-body aircraft, as well as dozens of A350 wide-body aircraft.

The European aircraft maker is expected to win a slightly larger share than Boeing of this vast airline fleet renewal project, the sources say.

Asked, Boeing referred the questions to Air India, which made no immediate comment. Airbus declined to comment.

Reuters had previously reported on Sunday that Air India was set to place orders with Airbus and Boeing for at least 500 aircraft worth tens of billions of dollars.
