Air Liquide signs a renewable energy contract for the South African site of Sasol

(AOF) – Air Liquide and Sasol have signed long-term contracts (PPA) with Enel for a total capacity of 110 MW of renewable electricity for the Sasol site in Secunda, South Africa. This is the fourth series of PPAs signed by Air Liquide and Sasol after those announced in 2023. In total, these contracts represent capacities of around 690 MW of renewable electricity. These agreements will allow Air Liquide to reduce CO2 emissions linked to oxygen production at Secunda by approximately 1.2 million tonnes per year by 2031.

Air Liquide purchased the latter’s 16 oxygen production units in Secunda from Sasol and has been operating them since June 2021, as part of a long-term supply contract with this partner.
