(Boursier.com) — Airbus picked up the pace in May. The aircraft maker delivered 63 commercial aircraft last month, up from 54 units in April, bringing shipments so far this year to 244 planes. Airbus has set itself a target of 720 deliveries in 2023. The European giant received 17 gross orders last month, bringing the order book to 178 units (144 after 34 cancellations).

Like its rival Boeing, the company is still struggling to get parts from its suppliers even though the trend is improving. Speaking in Paris on Wednesday, Guillaume Faury, the boss of Airbus quoted by ‘Bloomberg’, said that the continuing problems within the supply chain are still hampering the resumption of production in the industry and that recruitment remains a challenge in a tight labor market.
