Airbus: A330neo order for Malaysia Airlines

(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus announces that Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), parent company of Malaysia Airlines, has selected its A330neo for its wide-body fleet renewal program, gradually replacing its 21 A330ceo aircraft.

The initial agreements relate to the acquisition of 20 A330-900 aircraft, including 10 to be purchased from the aircraft manufacturer and 10 to be leased from Avolon, a company based in Dublin. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, they will join six long-range A350-900s.

The carrier will operate the A330neo on its network covering Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East. Malaysia Airlines will configure its A330neo fleet with a premium layout that can accommodate 300 passengers in two classes.

In addition to wide-body fleet renewal, Airbus and MAG have signed a letter of intent to explore broader collaboration in the areas of sustainability, training, maintenance and airspace management .
