Airbus: collaboration around medical eVTOLs

(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus Helicopters announces that it has partnered with the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation to develop future CityAirbus NextGen missions for medical services in Norway.

The parties intend to investigate the added value of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for selected medical service use cases across the country.

‘Complementarity is a key driver in this endeavour: helicopters remain essential to perform emergency medical services, while eVTOLs can provide additional capabilities to support first responders, for example by transporting specialist doctors to the scene of disasters. ‘accidents or organs from one medical site to another’, summarizes Professor Hans-Morten Lossius, Secretary General of the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation.
