Airbus: contract with ESA for the LISA mission

Airbus announces that it has won a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to continue developing the implementation of LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna), a scientific mission aimed at studying gravitational waves.

With Phase B1 underway, detailed mission design and final technology development activities for the Gravitational Wave Observatory are expected to be completed by 2024, with launch planned for the late 2030s.

To measure gravitational waves, LISA is made up of three satellites flying in ‘formation’ and forming a quilateral triangle in deep space, 2.5 million kilometers apart.
