Jan 10 (Reuters) – Airbus delivered a gross total of 663 aircraft in 2022, before an adjustment linked to sanctions against Russia, thus retaining its title as the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, despite difficulties linked to a bottlenecks in supply chains.
The European group said it delivered 663 aircraft, for a net total of 661, after taking into account the two planes destined for Aeroflot previously targeted by Western sanctions against Russia.
Airbus secured 1,078 orders in 2022, a net total of 820 after deducting cancellations.
Boeing, which is recovering from the fallout from a safety standards crisis over its 737 MAX and industrial issues over its 787, said Tuesday it will deliver 480 aircraft in 2022 and said it has sold 935 planes, a net total comparable of 774 after cancellations.
Reuters reported last week that Airbus had tentatively delivered 663 planes in 2022.
Airbus last month dropped its forecast of “around 700” deliveries for the year, having already lowered the target to “around 720” planes due to supply chain issues. (Tim Hepher report, French version Augustin Turpin, edited by Blandine Hénault)
