Airbus: delivered an A320neo to easyjet with the SLS

(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus is extending Satellite Landing System (SLS) capability to the A320 family. The group has delivered the first Airbus A320neo equipped with the latest Satellite Landing System (SLS) technology to easyJet.

SLS allows pilots to fly ‘straight-in’ approaches using satellite precision when landing at airports, without the need for additional ground systems such as ILS, even in low visibility conditions, while saving fuel and reducing emissions.

The Instrument Landing System (SLS) is a system that works by sending radio waves downriver from the end of the runway, aircraft that intercept it use the radio waves to guide them back to the runway.

An SLS function is also available on the A220 and A330 aircraft families and in progress for the A380.
