(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus announces that the EarthCARE climate monitoring satellite it built was successfully launched from the Vandenberg military base, California.
EarthCARE (Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer) is a joint project of the European and Japanese space agencies (ESA and JAXA).
This satellite will examine the role that clouds and aerosols (tiny atmospheric particles) play in reflecting solar radiation back to space (i.e. cooling the atmosphere) and in trapping emitted infrared radiation by the Earth’s surface (i.e. warming of the atmosphere).
