(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus indicates that Qantas has taken delivery of its first new generation A220, making the Australian company the 20th operator to receive this new aircraft. It will leave the Mirabel assembly line in the coming days to reach Sydney.
This is the first of 29 A220s ordered by Qantas for operation by QantasLink, its regional subsidiary serving metropolitan and regional destinations throughout Australia, which will gradually replace its current fleet of 717s.
Able to fly twice as far, the A220 can connect any two points in Australia non-stop, while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 25% compared to previous generation aircraft.
