Airbus Group: Delta Air Lines orders 12 additional A220-300 aircraft

(Boursier.com) — Under its current agreement, Delta Airlines unveiled an order for 12 additional A220-300 aircraft fromAirbusbringing the total number of A220 aircraft ordered by the airline to 131, or 45 A220-100s and 86 A220-300s.

Over the years, Delta has placed 5 incremental orders and is today the largest customer and operator of the A220.

Delta took delivery of its first Airbus A220 in October 2018, and was the first US-based operator to operate this type of aircraft. Delta currently operates a fleet of 433 Airbus aircraft, including 61 A220 aircraft, 280 A320 Family aircraft, 64 A330s and 28 A350-900 aircraft.

With 271 A220s delivered to 16 airlines operating on four continents, the A220 is the optimal aircraft offering flexibility for both regional routes and long-haul routes. This fleet is operated on more than 1,100 routes to 375 destinations around the world. At the end of June 2023, nearly 30 customers had ordered more than 800 A220 aircraft, confirming its position as a leader in the small single-aisle aircraft market
