(Reuters) – Airbus is setting up a 10 billion euro fund to protect against future crises and prepare to invest, if necessary, in next-generation aircraft, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Saturday, citing the group’s chief financial officer.

Dominik Asam explained, in an interview given to the FT, that the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer wanted to be able to deal with crisis situations, such as the coronavirus pandemic.

The Airbus chief financial officer added that the company also wanted to be able to invest in new development programs or consider acquisitions.
