“The A350-1000 has been selected by Qantas following an assessment known as ‘Project Sunrise’ and will enable the company to operate the world’s longest commercial flights,” Airbus said in a statement. communicated.
“It will notably be able to connect Sydney and Melbourne to destinations such as London and New York non-stop for the very first time,” the group continued.
According to Qantas, these flights should be put into operation from the end of 2025. A350 deliveries will be spread between 2025 and 2028, the Australian company said in a press release.
The A220 and A321XLR will be used for domestic flights within Australia. The A321 XLRs will also connect Australia to countries in Southeast Asia. These aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney. A220 deliveries will begin in 2023 while A321XLR deliveries will begin in 2024, Qantas said.
