(CercleFinance.com) – Safran, Airbus and ArianeGroup joined forces in December 2020 in a joint research project called HyPERION, with the support of the Program d’Investissement d’Avenir (PIA).
The objective of the HyPERION project (HYdrogen for Environmentally Responsible Aviation Propulsion) is to explore safe and efficient technical solutions for hydrogen propulsion.
‘HyPERION has made it possible to achieve significant advances in the definition of hydrogen propulsion systems for commercial aircraft, with a high level of safety. The project has also made it possible to identify the various technologies which remain to be developed,’ the group indicates.
‘This outcome is a fine conclusion to the HyPERION project and confirms the interest of hydrogen as an energy vector allowing the decarbonization of civil aviation,’ declared Martin Sion, Executive Chairman of ArianeGroup.
