Airbus to secure order from Air India for 235 single-aisle jets


DELHI/PARIS, Jan 20 (Reuters) – European aircraftmaker Airbus is on the verge of winning an order for 235 single-aisle jets in a landmark purchase of some 495 jets Air India is expected to announce on January 27, Air India officials said. to Reuters from industry sources.

The giant order, which is split mostly with rival Boeing, is for a total of 425 single-aisle jets, including 235 Airbus A320neo family jets, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

Last month, Reuters reported that Air India’s order was also for 190 Boeing 737 MAXs.

The order is also expected to include up to 70 widebody jets, including 40 Airbus A350s, as well as 20 Boeing 787s and 10 Boeing 777Xs, the sources said.
