(Boursier.com) – Airbus announced Monday that it had delivered 611 planes in 2021, thus confirming the exceeding of its target of 600 deliveries for the year 2021, which allowed the European aircraft manufacturer to maintain its ascendancy over its American competitor Boeing.

With 611 deliveries, (+ 8% over one year), Airbus is healing its wounds after a year 2020 marked by the shock of the coronavirus pandemic on the aviation sector. But deliveries are still down by a third compared to 2019, before the health crisis.

The vast majority of aircraft delivered are single-aisle aircraft, including the A320 (483 aircraft) and the A220 competing with the B-737 (50 aircraft), well suited to the gradual resumption of air traffic, which began with domestic flights and continental rather than the main lines. The group still delivered 18 long-haul A330s, 55 A350s and 5 A380s (the last of the family of this giant of the air, whose production has ceased).

The group has also garnered 507 net orders (771 excluding order cancellations and changes) in 2021, more than doubled from 208 orders in 2020 and down 34% from 768 in 2019.
