Airline ticket giants are removing Aeroflot from their booking systems

The Russian airline Aeroflot loses further important business partners because of Russia’s war against Ukraine. With the US company Saber and the Spanish Amadeus IT Group, two of the largest booking system providers for flight tickets severed their business relationships with the airline on Thursday.

“We take a stand against this military conflict,” said Saber boss Sean Menke on the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. His company will remove Aeroflot’s offer from its booking system with immediate effect. Saber adheres to the sanctions against Russia and is assessing whether further action may be necessary.

Madrid-based Saber competitor Amadeus also said it would remove Aeroflot from its systems. In view of the attacks on Ukraine, the company immediately stopped all new planned business projects in Russia and will not conclude any more contracts there until further notice.

This means that Aeroflot is being sealed off more and more. Saber and Amadeus collect information on flight schedules, seat availability and ticket prices. They allow travel agents to compare flight deals and book tickets for customers both online and in-store. They are extremely important for airlines.
