DECRYPTION – Air France-KLM or Ryanair secure their supply of sustainable fuel for which there is a shortage.
And 800,000 more tonnes of sustainable fuel for Air France-KLM. The air carrier announced on Monday an agreement with TotalEnergies which will supply it with these quantities of green kerosene within the next ten years. At the end of October, the group had already secured with two energy companies – the Finnish Neste and the American DG Fuel – access to 1.6 million tonnes of sustainable fuel by 2036.
In recent months, large companies have multiplied this type of announcement: the 1er December, Shell promised to deliver 360,000 tonnes of green kerosene to Ryanair. “The equivalent of more than 70,000 Dublin-Milan flights“, Specifies the low-cost carrier. Last summer, Shell also guaranteed Lufthansa to supply it with up to 1.8 million tonnes between 2024 and 2030. As for easyJet, it ensured in September that the Kuwaiti company Q8 Aviation would supply it with sustainable fuel as much as needed until 2027.
