A collective action is at the origin of this legal procedure. At its heart, the Cupertino company would not have taken into account the stalking warnings that its AirTags would promote.
The text of the legal action mentions in particular the fact that “for only $29 [les AirTags] are the new weapon of harassers”, because it allows them to track their victims. The complaints thus relate to the “neglect” and the “responsibility” alleged allegations by Apple, which tried in vain to have the procedure annulled.
Apple defends itself
According to Apple, AirTags were designed to find lost objects and nothing else. The company explains that it is not responsible if its tracker is used for malicious purposes and that it has developed a wearer alert system. So many arguments that Judge Vince Chhabria today considers insufficient.
