Akka Arrh: the 80s arcade shooter back on PC and consoles

Atari will have released thousands of arcade terminals in the 70s and 80s, with cult games like pong, Asteroids, Centipede or Tempest. But not many people rememberAkka Arrh, a shooting game released in 1982 on arcade terminals, quickly deemed too difficult (even for the time!) and the machines quickly disappeared. Today, only three terminals are listed with collectors.

And yet, here it isAtari today announces the return of Akka Arrh to our modern platforms. A version of the game reimagined by llamasoft and designer Jeff Minter (Storm 2000 and 4000), and as the first trailer shows, the title hasn’t changed much, it’s very retro with colors that sting the eyes, the goal here being to defend your spaceship by shooting enemies.

Akka Arrh is expected on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch at a date still unknown. You can find theAtari Flashback Gold 50th Anniversary with 130 retro games to €99.99 on Amazon.
