But that’s not why the eldest of the group, Anthony Delon, is doing interviews this week. Indeed, he has just unveiled his new work Rail published Wednesday March 27, 2024 by Fayard editions. And of course, each time, the actor cannot avoid questions around his father because it is on this subject that his first novel focused Between dogs and wolves (ed. Points), published in May 2022. In the latter, he returned in particular to the sometimes complicated relationship he had with his father when he was younger but also to resilience. In the columns of Parisian Friday March 29, 2024, he explained why he had chosen to forgive her despite the scars still very present. “Forgiving is essential to rebuilding oneself. But that does not mean that you completely close certain fault lines. The day after this interview, it was with the magazine Interview that Anthony Delon confided. And the least we can say is that he agreed to speak in complete transparency, partly about his father. For one of the rare times, the actor agreed to talk about the illness that affects the actor. “He’s had strokes, he wears stents, has been taking medication for You should know that my father, at the age of 87, had type B lymphoma, which progressed extremely slowly. He was treated with imbruvica. Imbruvica is a so-called immunotherapy treatment, it is effective curatively if you combine it with chemo. But my father couldn’t do chemo, he was far too fragile and too old. It would have killed him. The Swiss therefore began to treat him with this experimental drug, in palliative care.”
Anthony Delon also had a word for the conflict between him and his sister, namely that of transferring his father to Switzerland so that he could receive suitable treatment. “The whole speech, about my father, consisting of saying ‘He must go to Switzerland for curative, vital, essential treatment’, I no longer know what words were used, it doesn’t hold up….It’s a pure lie, a smokescreen to hide a completely different reality.”
