Alain-Fabien Delon: how his father Alain Delon pushed him to become an actor: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

The expression "like father, like son" goes very well for Alain Delon and his son, Alain-Fabien. However, this has not always been the case. If their physical resemblance is striking, Alain-Fabien did not always experience this similarity well, trying to distinguish himself from this famous father whose personality is so imposing. This resemblance has bothered him in the past: "It’s disturbing in the sense that you lose sight of yourself. You no longer know who you are. It's when I see it in me that I'm confused", admitted Alain-Fabien Delon to Harry Roselmack in Seven to eight, sure TF1, Sunday March 14. So, for a long time, becoming an actor was not really Alain-Fabien Delon's life project. And yet … "I wish you would do the same that I have done all my life, which brought me so much happiness, so much joy and so much pride ", Alain Delon, whose state of health is worrying, once told his son. He then followed his father's advice: "In the end, I really like what I do. I had dodged a while, then I came back to doing that. I really like"said the 26-year-old, much closer to his father since the latter's stroke.

A family affair

In the cinema, Alain-Fabien Delon especially appreciates playing different characters. "One day you're a coke dealer in a dark alley at night in Paris, the next day you're a young man driving a yacht who enjoys his life with a chick. It's still a dream life", he continued. Nonetheless, he is aware that he may not be as successful as his father. "I still see the years going by a little bit. I'm twenty-seven in ten days (…) but at twenty-seven he (Alain Delon) was already much further. So we would have to catch up, but to catch up I would have to work extra hard, I think it's not possible". But if the young man is aware of this, he is not necessarily bitter:"Being an iconic actor like Alain Delon will never happen, I'm not going to make movies in my head", he added. But just because his career is more modest does not mean that his father is not happy with the trajectory taken by Capucine Anav's ex-companion: "He is happy, he is proud", he confided. "He will tell you, he will write to you, he will send you texts at two in the morning, which he does not normally do, he gives you his feedback, his advice". A new thing that brought father and son closer together.
