Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1/Cnews/Les Echos, the philosopher Alain Finkielkraut, returned to the breakthrough of the National Rally within the National Assembly. For the latter, the arrival of 89 deputies from the far-right party is a sign of the concern of the French to preserve “historical continuity”.

It’s a first. In the National Assembly, the National Rally has never been as powerful as since the last legislative elections. The party, formerly led by Marine Le Pen, won 89 seats. A shock for the political class and certain members of the government, like the current Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye, who calls not to “understand with the RN” in the columns of the Parisian, this Sunday.

“Existential angst”

“I am not personally delighted with this massive entry of deputies from the National Rally into the Assembly”, explains at the microphone of Europe 1 / Cnews /The echoes. And to add: “Not because I see the return of the filthy beast there. Not at all. The National Rally is not a fascist or even factious party. What worries me rather is first his Poutinian tropism.”

For the essayist and philosopher, the vote of voters for deputies of the National Rally was done “for a very estimable reason”. “They experience existential angst. They want a fundamental right to be defended, just like Simone Veil or José Ortega y Gasset, that of the right to historical continuity”.

“Absurd convenience of taking the RN out of the Republican circle”

They believe that this right is threatened. And they are right to think”, explains Alain Finkielkraut, who calls on all political parties to take up the subject. And faced with the call from the Minister of National Education not to “collaborate with the RN”, the essayist is very critical: “I do not agree with Pap Ndiaye who had no statement worthy of the name on the state of the school, but who from tweet to interview reminds us that we must mobilize against the National Rally”.

“It’s an absurd convenience to take the National Rally out of the Republican circle, especially since we go out with it, the reality that we don’t want to see, all this bad ideological news in a way. And that, It’s very serious,” he concludes.
