Alain Weill to step down as CEO of Altice France and SFR

The founder of the NextRadio TV media group, Alain Weill, will be leaving at 1er July 2021 his duties as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Altice France and SFR, but also his post as Chairman of Altice Media, the French group announced on Thursday, June 24.

Alain Weill created NextRadioTV twenty years ago. He had built his group by buying first RMC, then BFM Business, before launching BFM-TV, then the channels RMC Découverte and RMC Story.

In 2015, he sold his media group (RMC, BFM-TV) to billionaire Patrick Drahi. The operation was carried out in several stages, with a minority entry by the telecoms magnate into the capital of NextRadio TV, before the latter became its main shareholder.

“Never very far”

Alain Weill will be replaced as CEO of Altice France by the current CEO of SFR, Grégory Rabuel. Arthur Dreyfuss, currently Chief Executive Officer of Altice Média, becomes Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Altice Média and remains Secretary General of Altice France-SFR.

“Their capacity for work, their team spirit, their commitment, their loyalty, their skills will enable these two managers to carry out the group’s transformation and development projects.”, assured Mr. Weill, quoted in the press release.

The leader explains that he will not be “Never very far” of the Altice group and its founder, Patrick Drahi, and which he now has “Bring new projects to fruition” in media and digital. “As such, I still remain associated with the Altice group, which is a shareholder of The Express, which I am working to relaunch ”, he added.
