Remedy Entertainment launched last October Alan Wake 2, continuation of the horrific adventures of the writer tortured by shadows. A title that already twists the brain quite a bit with its convoluted storyline, but the developers are going to go even further with free content and extensions.
As expected, Alan Wake 2 welcomed the mode this week The Final Draftadding a mode New Game +. An essential experience for players, creative director Sam Lake explains on the blog PlayStation that THE NG+ adds a new level of reading to the story :
Alan Wake 2 was released over a month ago after years of development. We wanted to create a game that was as ambitious as it was unique. With this perspective, it is difficult to anticipate the public’s reaction, which is quite stressful. However, player feedback far exceeded our wildest expectations. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for this. Alan Wake 2 is both Remedy’s first survival horror game and the most story-driven game we’ve ever made. There are two main characters: Alan Wake, a tortured writer trapped in a nightmarish dimension “The Dark Lair”, and Saga Anderson, an FBI agent leading an investigation into a series of ritualistic murders in the Northeast Pacific. . As the story progresses, their respective paths seem more and more intertwined as they draw closer to the depths beneath Cauldon Lake.
From the beginning of the design of Alan Wake 2, we planned to create a New Game Plus mode that was an integral part of the story. During the development of the game and the story, we always kept this idea in mind. We have made many connections between different elements. We realized that we were creating an extremely rich experience. There was so much narrative material that it was obvious to have to distribute it: that’s why you have to play the game several times in order to gather all the elements of the puzzle. New Game Plus gives you a clear reason to rediscover the game.
You keep all the weapons, charms, and upgrades you’ve unlocked. You deserve it, since you have already completed the game. We added a new “Nightmare” difficulty, if you want a real challenge. But the most important thing you need to keep in mind is thatthere is a specific goal in remaking the game. It’s part of the whole story. You will notice that things are no longer the same. There is progress. You are progressing. Very early in the game, you’ll notice this in Alan Wake’s opening lines of dialogue. New knowledge, however futile it may be… Such a promise.
Alan Wake has been locked in this nightmare loop for a long time, and we’re stuck with him, even though we’ve already finished the game numerous times. Finally, thanks to New Game Plus and Alice’s help, we can break the loop and begin to sink into this downward spiral.
That’s what The Final Draft is. It concludes Initation and Return. And leads us straight to what awaits us at the end of this spiral.
