(Boursier.com) — Historical order for Alaska Airlines. The American company has exercised options to buy 52 B737 MAX to be delivered between 2024 and 2027, increasing the total number of 737 MAX ordered from Boeing from 94 to 146 units. Alaska also secured rights for an additional 105 aircraft through 2030, guaranteeing it access to enough aircraft for replacement and expansion of its fleet.

Already operating a fleet of 35 B737-9s, the carrier expects to receive another 43 MAX aircraft by the end of 2023. The order includes 737-8, 737-9 and 737-10 aircraft, enabling Alaska to adapt new optimally the size and capacity of aircraft to market characteristics. “We have complete flexibility to switch from one 737 MAX model to another, if necessary,” said the airline group.
