Aldi and other supermarkets are raising prices again: Many items are now more expensive

The discount chain Aldi is increasing its prices again.

After just a few days ago, almost 160 products on the discounter shelf became more expensive, a further 20 to 30 items have now been added, reports the “Lebensmittel Zeitung”. A spokesman confirmed the increase.

If you add the different flavors, sizes and so-called variants, the price increase of the past two weeks affects more than 420 products.

In the current week, the following products, among others, have become more expensive:

  • Smoked salmon from our own brand “Almare” from 3.89 euros to 3.99 euros,#
  • Organic lenses of the own brand GUT Bio from 1.65 to 1.75 euros and
  • OMBIA own brand razor blades from 3.89 euros to 3.99 euros.

The reason for the price increases is the significantly increased price demands of the manufacturers as a result of higher production and delivery costs.

Because the discounters Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord are among the most important buyers from manufacturers and middlemen, other retailers also raised their prices massively last week. Including Kaufland, Rewe, Hit, Penny, Edeka, Netto Marken-Discount and others. Even at Rossmann and dm things went up in the drugstore goods segment.

Aldi, for example, had made the bottle of mineral water 6 cents more expensive, the bottle of Coca Cola rose to 1.25 euros instead of 1.19 euros. Rewe, Lidl, Penny and other retailers followed suit.

There were also major leaps in coffee, among other things. With “Amaroy Our Best” the price rose by 60 cents to 4.59 euros. Lidl had turned the price screw on Lavazza coffee.

The organic coffee at Aldi even became a whole euro more expensive.

Other affected products included detergents, frozen products and baked goods.
