Aldi Talk mini in detail
The main features of the Aldi Talk mini are a telephone and SMS flat rate for Aldi Talk users – both within Germany and in the EU. That’s basically it. Calls and SMS to other mobile phone providers cost 11 cents per minute or unit. Mobile Internet use costs 24 cents per megabyte. Both are already known from the basic tariff of Aldi Talk. The LTE network from O2 is used, up to 25 Mbps in download and 10 Mbps in upload are possible. As part of a promotion until June 30, 2022, the Aldi Talk mini has 500 megabytes of data volume. Data packages and travel options are available at an additional cost.
Aldi Talk mini: For whom is the tariff worth it?
Anyone who is familiar with the Aldi Talk tariff options will have noticed that the Aldi Talk mini and the community flat rate option are very similar. The latter was available as an option for the basic tariff, enabled telephoning and texting to other Aldi Talk users and also cost 2.99 euros. The past tense already suggests it: the community flat rate option is history and has been replaced by the Aldi Talk mini. The fact that it can now be used in other EU countries makes the new tariff more flexible than its predecessor.
But who is the Aldi Talk mini suitable for? The answer is clear: for a cost-oriented target group who only want to make cheap calls and send text messages to friends and relatives who also have an Aldi Talk SIM card in their company. The additional data volume is a nice extra for checking mail or streaming music – especially for the price point of around 3 euros – but is limited in time. Older people with a fixed circle of friends and families, where everyone is a member of Aldi Talk, are likely to be the primary target groups.
The fact that the telephone flat rate only applies to Aldi Talk users seems a bit outdated these days. For comparison: You can equip the entry-level tariff from Norma Connect (Norma Connect Start) with a real all-network flat rate for only 4 euros – this also covers calls to other mobile networks.
