Aldiana manager draws a conclusion on the summer – and says what is blooming for unruly guests

FOCUS Online: Mr. Grimm, what is your summary of the Corona summer?

Peter Grimm: We have never had a year like this. It presents our industry, tourism, with particularly great challenges. First the shutdown, during which we had to close all clubs, then the travel warning for Spain, which currently affects three Aldiana clubs. Our three Austrian resorts have proven to be a blessing for us. Because we were able to reopen the Aldiana Clubs Ampflwang, Hochkönig and Salzkammergut quickly after the lockdown and also had many short-term bookings there.

Then it was quite crowded with you – could the guests still keep their distance?

Grim: Yes of course. This has to be guaranteed and our hygiene concept provides for it. We pay close attention to compliance with all safety and hygiene requirements of the authorities and have also developed our own additional standards.

What do these standards include?

Grimm: We have a mask requirement in our clubs in all public areas in buildings. There are disinfectant dispensers everywhere in the club. The rooms are disinfected very thoroughly and then sanitized. After the treatment, the room is sealed so that no one can enter it in front of the guest. Guests can choose how often the room is cleaned during their stay. Of course, all other areas of the club and the sports equipment are also subject to regular disinfection. In the restaurant it goes without saying that masks are required until the guests are at their tables. We offer more gourmet plates and prepared portions there, the employees are separated from the guests by plexiglass.

Are there also guests who do not adhere to the guidelines and what do you do then?

Fortunately, the vast majority of our guests are very reasonable, more than 99 percent stick to the rules. But unfortunately there are now and then unteachable people who think that the guidelines do not apply to them. If we notice that it is not a mistake and they have simply forgotten to put on the mask or keep their distance, but knowingly disregard the rules, we take tough action. If the guests do not change their behavior, they must leave.

And how do the other guests react when they hear that?

Very understanding. Many are also grateful that we enforce the consistent application of the rules and thereby protect them.

Have you already had a corona case or a suspected case at the Aldiana Club Ampflwang?

No, we haven't had a corona case in the club yet. We had three suspected cases where the people were tested. Fortunately, the results were always negative.

Have you and your employees also been tested?

Grim: Of course we did. All employees were even tested twice with negative results. We want to offer our guests a vacation with friends with the right balance between security and relaxation.

What is the booking situation at the Aldiana Club Ampflwang for autumn and winter?

Grim: In view of the current situation, we are very satisfied with the bookings for autumn and winter. As in previous years, the autumn holidays and Christmas time are particularly popular.
