After the tragic accident on the set of the film “Rust”, in which Alec Baldwin shot and killed a camerawoman and injured the director, the actor now speaks out himself.

It’s hard to imagine what it’s like in Alec Baldwin, 63, right now. During the filming of his western “Rust”, the actor fired a prop weapon which, for reasons as yet unexplained, killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injured director Joel Souza, 48. The tragic accident occurred on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at a ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The police are investigating how this could happen are currently in full swing.

Now the 63-year-old is commenting on the fatal incident for the first time. He will publish a statement via Twitter on October 22, 2021.

“I cannot put into words how shocked and sad I am about the tragic accident in which Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and colleague we hold dear, was killed,” said the emotional lines of the Hollywood star. “I fully support the police investigation to clarify the background to this tragedy.”

The Hollywood star is in contact with Halyna’s family

He is also in contact with Halyna’s husband and “offer him and his family my support,” Baldwin continued. “My heart is broken for her husband, her son, and everyone who knew and loved Halyna.”

Halyna Hutchins was immediately flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital after the accident. But any help came too late. Director Joel Souza got away with injuries and was released from the clinic on Thursday evening.

Baldwin, who is the film’s co-producer and lead actor, has meanwhile been taken to the police station for questioning and released without charge. How a shot from a prop gun, which is normally loaded with blank cartridges for filming, was still a mystery is still a mystery.
