Alejandro Sabella is dead. The former coach of the Argentine national soccer team brought the team to the 2014 World Cup final.

Alejandro Sabella died at the age of 66. The Argentine football association AFA announced on Tuesday evening (December 8th) among other things on twitter known. The former coach Sabella led the Argentine national team to the 2014 World Cup final against Germany. In the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Argentina lost to the German team after extra time with Mario Götze (28) winning goal. On July 30, 2014 Sabella, who held the post from 2011, resigned as national coach.

According to media reports, Sabella succumbed to heart disease. Argentine football mourns a second of its idols within a few weeks. Football legend Diego Maradona (1960-2020) died on November 25 at the age of 60.
