With “The Songs I Never Wanted to write” Alex Diehl releases new music with which he deals with the separation from his girlfriend.

There are difficult months behind Alex Diehl (33): his partner separated from him after eight years in the middle of the corona pandemic. Diehl also had to give up the jointly renovated house – and that at a time when he was left with nothing as a musician without concerts and performances. Alex Diehl has now dealt with his grief in a new EP with five songs, which will be released on November 12th. “The songs I never wanted to write” is “the most personal and extraordinary work in his creative history to date,” says a press release.

The five songs on the EP “were made in the middle of the night on a piano, a broken heart, after an eight-year relationship, in search of support and love,” explains Diehl in an Instagram post. The first single “Alt, Kaputt und Grau” will be released on September 17th. For the EP, Alex Diehl also publishes the spoken word album “The story I never wanted to tell”, on which he reports on the first few weeks after the breakup.

Over the years, his partner has been a great support to the singer. “With my music, I indirectly take care of a lot of people by telling them about myself very openly and nakedly. My partner helps where she can to make it known to the outside world,” Alex Diehl told the news agency spot on news last September . At the time, the 33-year-old also revealed that he had no desire to have children. “There are two of us as it is and we are very satisfied with the dreams and visions we have for our lives.”
