After injury: Boris Becker reports to Alexander Zverev

Screaming and with a pained face, Alexander Zverev, 25, fell to the ground on Friday evening, 25, in the semifinals of the French Open against Rafael Nadal, 36. With an injured ankle, he left the field in a wheelchair and gave up. Not only friend Sophia Thomalla, 32, who is currently on a Greek island for filming, then gave him comfort. The Olympic champion also received recovery wishes from a prison near London.

As Zverev’s brother Mischa revealed on Sunday as a TV expert on Eurosport, Boris Becker, 54, spoke to the 25-year-old with encouraging words. “He also received a message from Boris,” said Mischa. “Boris said he followed what was happening at the tournament and wished Sascha all the best and a quick and good recovery.” The fact that Becker was able to follow what was happening is certainly not least due to the fact that he was recently transferred to Huntercombe prison in Nuffield, just outside London, where he is serving the remainder of his prison sentence.
