Alexander Zverev: Now he speaks about his ex's allegations of violence

Alexander Zverev is accused of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend. He calls the allegations "untenable" and "simply not true".

Tennis professional Alexander Zverev (23) faces serious allegations. "I was a victim of domestic violence," his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova made public on Instagram on Wednesday. At that time she was "really afraid" for her life. Now the Hamburg-born and world number seventh commented for the first time.

He describes Sharypova's statements as "untenable allegations" which "simply do not correspond to the truth" and which he says make him sad. "We have known each other since we were children and have experienced a lot together", can be read in his statement on Instagram. Zverev could not explain why Sharypova is now putting such stories into the world. "I very much regret that she says so." The tennis professional seems to want answers and hopes "that we can both find a way to treat each other sensibly and respectfully again".

Tennis professional becomes father for the first time

Not only Zverev's ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova made headlines recently. The former "GNTM" candidate Brenda Patea (27), with whom the tennis professional was together from the end of 2019 to August 2020, caused a bombshell with her pregnancy. Zverev now says that the past few days have been "challenging" for him.

Nevertheless, the father-to-be has a positive mood: "Even if Brenda and I are no longer together, we have a good relationship and I will live up to my responsibilities as a father." While he did not want to comment on "this private matter", ex-girlfriend Brenda leaked that she was currently 20 weeks pregnant.
