Alexander Zverev is back in Germany. At the airport he was greeted by fans, his brother and Sabine Lisicki.

A warm welcome for Alexander “Sascha” Zverev (24): After his victory at the Olympics, the German tennis player is back home. His brother Mischa Zverev (33) and some fans received the 24-year-old on Tuesday night in Munich, as the native of Hamburg shows on Instagram. Besides also welcomed tennis player Sabine Lisicki (31) Zverev at the airport.

“The gold has landed in Germany”, the professional said happily in the comment on his post, which was also commented on by many other users. Lisicki replied with a “golden boy is back in Germany” and soccer star Thomas Müller (31) wrote: “Welcome back in Germany, golden boy.”

Off to Hamburg

A little later, on August 3rd today, I went back to Hamburg, where Zverev was allowed to enter himself in the city’s Golden Book. “Back in my home country”, the tennis player explained in his Instagram Stories and thanked Mayor Peter Tschentscher (55, SPD) for the invitation. And further: “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to immortalize myself in the City of Hamburg’s Golden Book. […] A dream has come true, the gold medal is in Hamburg. “

In the Olympic final on Sunday, Zverev prevailed against Russian Karen Khachanov (25) 6: 3, 6: 1 and thus achieved a historic success. As the first German tennis professional, he was able to secure the gold medal in the men’s singles. Only Steffi Graf (52) succeeded in this in the women’s singles in 1988, Boris Becker (53) and Michael Stich (52) secured the gold medal in doubles in 1992.
