While his father Prince Albert is always in the public eye, Alexandre Grimaldi has kept his life rather private. Now he is ready for big changes and speaks about his plans in an extremely rare interview.

More and more is coming Alexandre Grimaldi, 20, in the focus of the media. The son of Prince Albert, 65, and his former secret partner liaison Nicole Coste, 51, is ready to take the step into the public eye and apparently already has concrete ideas about what his future should look like.

Alexandre Grimaldi wants a partnership with Prince Albert

As Alexandre reveals in an interview for the current issue of the British magazine “Tatler”, he is aiming for a business partnership with dad Albert and has set high goals for himself. “I want to work with my father and become, let’s say, a global ambassador for Monaco and bring business opportunities to Monaco,” he says. According to him, there have already been discussions about this with his father.

Despite his professional plans for the Principality, the 20-year-old is drawn further afield – to New York. And where better could a young, aspiring entrepreneur build his business than in the Big Apple? While Grimaldi is staying at the Four Seasons, he is looking for apartments; after all, the move from London to the metropolis is already planned for January 2024.

Naomi Campbell “took in Alexandre like a nephew”

The royal offspring is already busy making important contacts there, for example at various events as part of New York Fashion Week. He knows how to use the doors that his father opens for him. “Everyone was very nice to me. For example [Naomi] Campbell, who dated Albert in the early 1990s. It was great meeting her. She was very open and took me in like a nephew,” Alexandre Grimaldi enthuses about his new acquaintances. The fashion icon also gave him some advice: “I should be careful when someone takes care of me, especially when I’m in the world public.”

As Alexandre grows into a serious businessman, he increasingly frees himself from the painful “out-of-wedlock child” image that the press has assigned to him for years. The use of this word is “insulting”, he recently accused “Point de Vue” and clarified: “Neither of my parents were married and neither of them committed adultery… My father voluntarily stood by me when I was a baby wasn’t because a judge or the press forced him to do it.”

He doesn’t seem to have any issues with his origins or his past. “It was easy because I wasn’t in the public eye too much. It didn’t affect me that much,” explains Alexandre, adding: “Now it’s definitely going to be interesting to be more in the public eye and show my face to show up and be connected to my family.” His family enabled him to be part of two worlds, “especially because my mother is French-African and my father is Monegasque.” He had the pleasure of growing up in two cultures and “experiencing this as part of my identity”.
