The TV movie “Le Mystère Daval” on TF1 stirs up bad memories. The families of the protagonists do not fail to react.
This is one of the most publicized news items in France. This Monday, September 12, the first channel is broadcasting a TV movie called “Le Mystère Daval” and which retraces the key events of this affair which shook the country in 2017. This mystery was however resolved with the confessions of Jonathan Daval and his judgment in 2021. The production team of the TV movie had also contacted the main interested parties in order to offer them to participate in the feature film. Something they refused.
Moreover, they even had expressed their disagreement with the production of this program. “I don’t agree with this movie story, and Jonathann doesn’t agree either. He doesn’t want anyone to talk about him anymore, he wants to be quiet. had explained the mother of Jonathan Daval. “My son is not a freak! I would like all that to stop… We are fed up.” she added. Before recalling that his son has been tried and that he now deserves to have peace. “He’s going to do his bit, let us leave him in peace. It’s shameful, it’s indecent. Really, we must leave people in peace, and the dead too…” she added.
The Daval Mystery: “We have no choice”
Jonathan Daval’s mother is annoyed by the fact that her son’s case is still so publicized. “We have no choice, we can’t oppose it, but we don’t need that” regrets Martine Henry. Jonathan’s lawyer I also think that the latter will surely watch the film. “He watches everything.” he specifies to the magazine Marianne. But if Jonathan’s mother seems annoyed by programs that talk about her son, she still chose to testify in Daval case: the secrets of police custody, the documentary which will be broadcast just after the TF1 TV movie, this Monday evening. Isabelle Fouillot and Jean-Pierre Fouillot, parents of Alexia Daval have also agreed to participate in the report. “They would have preferred that the film not be made and told TF1 about it. They want to turn the page and did not want to be associated with it. their absence [au générique] reflects this desire” confides to Marianne the couple’s lawyer. Gilles-Jean Portejoie explains all the same that it is about a business which shook the public and the media and that producing programs around this murder is not voyeuristic. As a reminder, Jonathan Daval murdered and burned his wife in October 2017. He is serving a 25-year prison sentence.
