PARIS (Reuters) – Algeria’s incumbent president Abdelmadjid Tebboune will seek a new term in elections scheduled for September 7, the Algerian presidency announced on Thursday in a video posted on Facebook.
First elected in 2019, after the resignation of his predecessor Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, 78, declares in the video that he made his decision “at the request of many parties, organizations and young people.”
